Bureaucratic Barriers Must Be Overcome for a New Era in Modern Greenhouse Farming

In a statement to Cumhuriyet newspaper, Cengiz Yaylalı, Chairman of the Board of SERKONDER, highlighted that Turkey needs over 200,000 decares of modern greenhouse investment. Emphasizing that Turkey ranks among the top three globally in the greenhouse sector, Yaylalı noted that infrastructure delays and bureaucratic hurdles in ‘Organized Agricultural Zones’ (OTB) projects are discouraging investors. He called for sector-specific regulations, pointing out that subjecting lightweight steel greenhouse structures to heavy construction legislation slows down progress. Modern greenhouses, which are vital for sustainable food supply and water conservation, have the potential to turn Turkey into a global agricultural hub when supported by high-tech climatization and automation solutions from industry leaders like Timfog.
